The Caulfield Cup field of 1997 had 800m to go when experienced jock Jim Cassidy famously said... “See you later boys”. What Might & Power did in the next 45 seconds was complete racing devastation as he dismantled a field that included good horses like Doreimus and Markham. Rendering the seven length victory as no fluke Might and Power when on to take the Caulfield – Melbourne Cup Double, this time having to stave off a much more competitive effort from Doriemus. Might & Power much like his other contemparory stars did most of his winning from out in front but few if any could boast similar winning margins. As well as the Caulfield Cup win, Might and Power won the AJC Queen Elizabeth Stakes by ten lengths. In the STC Merecedes Classic he had a lazy five up his sleeve. The Hollindale Cup six and again a similar margin in the AJC Frank Packer Plate. The jewel in the crown came when Might & Power won the 1998 Cox Plate, pushing him clearly into legendary turf status with other major wins in the Caulfield and Melbourne having already been acrued. Injury eventually caught up with Might & Power  but not before he gave fans one last cheer with a demoralizing 7 length win in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Flemington. Doing it the only way he knew.
