Flemington

Exclusive Report 5th September

Race 1:

1. Avenue

2. Noeisis

3. Phenomenonal Lady

Avenue was impressive on debut. This is not superhard should go very close in this. Noesis was pretty good last start and has shown a liking up the straight before, step back in distance in her favour. Phenomenal Lass third best.

1. Shamoline Warrior

2. Danesearch

3. Stoneblack

4. Chartreaux

A number of horses I quite like here, thinking its worth playing given the odds of a few and practically eachway odds the field. Shamoline Warrior was really good last start and will go even better here 1400m and at Flemington. Barrier 5 and Oliver is hard to go past. Have it just rated in front of Danesearch. This is over the odds. Key will be the start, get back from 3 and will have difficulties, riden positively and will be very advantageous. Raced well on debut beaten by a star performance at Bairnsdale a track that is unsuitable for it. Taken to the big track at Sale and showed its true colours. Hard to beat. Stoneblack next best. Evergreeen horse, excuses last start, bias and big weight. Should run well off a little freshen and will get a cheap run from two. Chartreux I thought was no fluke last start. Expect to be ridden agressively from out wide and will give it a chance. I like all four of these, perhaps a boxed quinella of all four. Could back Shamoline and Danesearch straighout as well. Keen to play on this race.

Race 3:

1. Field Hunter

2. Light Vision

3. Fordee

4. Miss Scarlatti

5. Red Buttons

Field Hunter hits a winning distance here, and with Light Vision given the grandstand in terms of weight might be worth a shot here. Light Vision next best likes Flemington and still too classy to totally dismiss. Fordee could be the value runner in this race. Wasted alot of races last campaign at the wrong track looking for this circuit and distance. Can place at odds. Miss Scarlatti and Red Buttons next best.

Race 4 :

1. Diamonds at Dusk

2. Stormhill

3. Famous Roman

This is a race I'm not really feeling it. I have settled on Diamonds at Dusk as the top rater. 1400m is fine drawn to advantage. On the speed looks advantageous in this race. Stormhill, Famous Roman, Dr Doubtes, Jungle Ruler next best.

Race 5:

1. Fifth Avenue Lady

2. Romneya

3. Cats Whisker

4. Clandon

This race could be dominated on speed, and that may be the only thing standing in the way of the two class runners in Fifth Avenue Lady and Romneya but still not prepared to tip anything to beat them. Fifth Avenue Lady always takes her runs, is it time to strike with her third up? The price might make it too irresistable. Should be very hard to beat. Romneya 1400m here with not to big of an impost at 56.5kg makes it appealing. Cats Whisker next best. Barrier is against it a touch. Clandon next best, should position itself to great advantage and looms as a potentially handy place bet or multiples proposition

1. Extra Zero

2. Black Caviar

3. Tollesprit

4. Manhattan Rain

Extra Zero proved last campaign that he is a horse to be reckoned with and a scenario of getting a clear late run at his 3yo rivals has me anticipating a good if not great collect for us. Black Caviar dominates betting and perhaps thats fair enough on face value, but this is 1200m up the straight, and it's drawn two and will be forced to lead I suspect. Much prefer to back horses coming off speed up the straight, ones that hit the line hard and perhaps are preferred over further and Extra Zero certainly fits that category. Ran an encouraging debut, won with ease second up when ridden out hands and heels over the very good Stoneblack, and was blocked severely for a run when granted 58kg in the Gibson Carmichael. Quite a few one dimensional types and his booming finish will see us get a result. Big odds and eachway is the way to go. Black Caviar next best from Tollesprit and Manhattan Rain.

1. Heart of Dreams

2. Typhoon Tracy

3. Zagreb

4. Predatory Pricer

May not be the picnic, for Typhoon Tracy that a few are making this out to be in front. Rawiller and King will use there inside barriers a little to work Tracy I suspect and Maco'reilly, Pacino, and He's Something will roll forward I would of thought. Whatever happens, 1600m Flemington most horses get there chance and that scenario suits a fast finishing horse and Heart of Dreams is exactly that horse. Not wound up first up, given three weeks to improve expecting he will be ready to rock here. He will be ridden off the speed and will be allowed to run through his gears and at the eachway odds suggest we should play here, think that gives us a free hit at it. He raced well enough first up, not destroyed on a good speed, Typhoon Tracy did it tougher. 1600m at Flemington last time thumped his 3yo opponents in the Guineas. Doesnt meet a superstar WFA field. The mare will be the hardest to beat, and he beat Predatory Pricer on his home turf before when more advanced in a prep. Think this is a good decision to invest a little here on Heart of Dreams. Typhoon Tracy next best, good run last start, entitled to knock up a bit on a strong pace. Better suited at Flemington and will put in a very strong showing. Zagreb might be the sneaky runner of the field. And Predatory Pricer next best.

Race 8:

1. Midnight Mustang

2. Champagne Harmony

3. Arinos

Midnight Mustang is the top rater, taken to Adelaide for a kill last month, did it well there. Good chance in this. Champagne Harmony is second best, drawn a great barrier to attack the race from. Should get a clear run. Wary she might not be at her best first up, went better second up last time in. Too good to dismiss though. Arinos next best. Straight specialist, drawn well for its racing pattern.

Race 9:

1. Speed Gifted

2. Leica Larrikin

3. Vandalo

4. Red Lord

Speed Gifted ran a brilliant 1600m race at Flemington and then turned out. Set on a Cups campaign if its form warrants, dare say would have done enough to be hard to beat in this. Leica Larrikin next best, showed versatilitiy in going forward last start. Will probably drift back from the wide barrier, with the rail in the true shouldn't have any problem getting back and coming around them. Should run well. Vandalo and Red Lord next best.
