Sandown
- Canitellya looked good in running over the top of them in the 2yo. Incumbent showed good fight after sitting on the speed, and the favourite Ana’s Mail can be forgiven as it found itself in an awkward position on the rail in the straight. Home in 34.55
- Goldfield Ashes showed a nice action in winning the second. And that was the difference between it and Deloraine the favourite who looked sloppy in trying to haul the Mayfield-Smith horse in. Although right at the end Deloraine was hitting it straps. El Pauji was only just ok. Home in 35 and you can do worse than following the winner.
- Sendeed eventually wore down Embank and Swains World. Good efforts by all three as they broke away from the rest of the field which was impressive in a slowly run race. Home in 34.37.
- Our Apache was suited here, and put itself in the firing line to worry Pinions and the fast-finishing Threedee. Not much between the performances of the first three home, their runs alll had some sort of merit. Bianomour under hard riding was going to put itself right in the fight but found no room in the last 50m and looks capable of atoning soon. Home in 34.07
- Special Scene put in the necessary dash here to overhaul the gallant Home Sweet. Excellent performance by our top tip Home Sweet (11-1), who gave a fabulous kick at the top of the straight. The 4kg difference proving significant in the wash-up. He’s A Pearla hung around pretty good too as it enjoyed the spaces of Sandown.
- Test Fire pinched a break on the field coming off a soft run in the lead showing a good enough kick to score at huge odds. Rubiscent though was the run of the race. It was forced to overcome serious trouble at the top of straight, which probably cost it four lengths. While it did wobble a bit when it was making it’s run…the dash it displayed at the 250m mark was impressive. Lancettier was ok, and Kounthekash was doing it’s best work on the line. Home in 34.72
- This race gave the punter many answers on the indifferent form of the current crop of sprinters as many were coming back in class and the pressure to perform right on. Can Lago did enjoy a good run but put in a very solid performance to be too good. Murray Downs gave little yelp after enjoying a soft run in the lead. I’d can Murray. Kaphero had the weight and class of a horse who should have dominated this race, but took a while to hit his straps and when he did his momentum was thwarted by Murray Downs who rolled in under pressure. So the jury’s out on Kaphero. There was something in that run though, so may have something to work with next start. Watchyerback was a great run as the speed and momentum was against. But he still did a great job with a flashing run down the outside. Of these she seems to have the most scope and I would suggest to follow her. Home in 33.37
- Both Imagining and Benko looked unfavoured by the Sandown surface but did a good job to fight this one out all the same. Sans Gene ran them along here making it a tough test. And Imagining showed everything expected of it and hit the line like a horse who can handle further. Swinging Babe the stayer appreciated the slick speed and brought itself nicely into the race looking at one point a winning chance but just wasn’t good enough. The first two will win again, and Playwin finished close enough to think it will go straight back to the Valley and win. Home in 35.16
