Sandown
Race 1- Red Pluton. A firmer in betting travelled close to the lead and won in relatively slow time. Montfort just went under and Kadena Lane set the pace and hung on too place.
Race 2- Maxerelle. Perfectly ridden by Steven King in a slowly run race, Maxerelle was produced at the right time and won with ease. Retail Therapy battled hard and Poiym run on pretty well. The others were outclassed.
Race 3- ReadyforCatherine. Firm in betting at (3.00) Readyforcatherine smashed them here. She was pulled out wide at the top of the straight and sprinted quickly to win by over 3 lengths. They broke 34 seconds for the last 600m but it was a slowly run race. Warshawsky battled as did Terre Tale but were no match for the winner.
Race 4- Loyal Lauren. A firmer late in betting 5's into 4.60, Loyal Lauren outsprinted a competitive lot here. Change of Class will be better for the run and Aliandra was game. We supported Paris Zero who raced quite ungenerously and had no room in the straight to make her claim. Give her another chance next start as she missed a run and raced accordingly. Sojustrememberthis may be better suited over shorter trips and away from Sandown.
Race 5- Forest Spy. Way West led from Forest Spy and O'Carnavass. Forest Spy and Winning Master came away at the 200m to fight it out. Forest Spy tried harder and deserved the win. Winning Master who we have been following looked the winner at the 100m but didn't quite go on with it. Rockocko our tip finished third and had every chance. May be better suited when the pace is a little warmer. But he had every chance. The favourite Air Cooled finished close up but did not perform to expectations.
Race 6- Aqua D'Amore. Gai's patience with this mare paid off. Wild Classic led from Storm Alert and Action Shot. 200m to go this looked a race of many chances Wild Classic and Storm Alert were still there, but Aqua D'Amore was hitting top gear. She raced away to win by over a length to Stamen who continues to improve and Wild Classic held on for third. Storm Alert's run ended at the 100m mark and may suggested she had enough. Break the Vault was dissapointing.
Race 7- Fifeshire. The eight-year old grey got home to well for the very game Botero. Botero seemed to perform on the drying Sandown track that raced a little quicker than what he faced last week. Peace Ruler ran on as he always does at Sandown and paid a handsome dividend for such an effort. Oamuru Storm needs a spell. Butten Shaw needs Flemington and a dry track. Off White and Clavillo need something more permanent.
Race 8- Watchyerback. Blake Shinn sailed down the outside to win here easily to suggest more wins are in store for this gelding. What's the Mail, Kings Arch and Secatuers ran honest races. Secatuers was well worth the risk here as he prefers Hillside and good tracks.
Century Serb at Randwick was ultra impressive and one of the better three year olds ive seen for a while.
Command and Conquer won the Ballarat Cup for us through the week, good luck to those that have been patient with him.
