Race 1- A Tan Tat De Lago victory here for best bet players with a $4.60 SP reward. In a slowly run affair Tan Tat camped on the leader Just the Rock and raced away when the race got serious. Grand Journey well tried in betting gave a good sight in second and ran home solidly, while Laspiel got third but it must be said was only average. Not much to say for the rest but follow the winner...classy!
Race 2- A hot speed set up by Spectacular Saint and Grand Duels ensured decent backmarkers weren't going home unrewarded in this. In fact they carved the last 600m in over 38 so that says alot for the speed that killed up front. Grand Duels got the better off Spectacular Saint but left itself a sitting duck for Lord Sudurka, Bingham and Moonloushe who rattled from the tail. The classy Moonloushe was too good in the last 100m and augurs well for a good campaign. Those behind were just average. Chevrolet Kid the exception who looked ok.
Race 3- Shrogginet a victim last start became the victor today. And a commanding one at that. Terrain again was well tried based on last run, but served up a mixed bag performance. Shrogginet was good enough to pounce at the right time and ran away with this one. Victory Nik found enough to plug into second, while Johnny Knoxville gave yet another souless display by fading into third after looking the goods most of the way.
Race 4- A result here for bookies with all three placegetters going around at better than double-digit odds. Electric Puha was the best of them and deserved its victory. Stuck it's head just at the right time. Glorious Dane and Prima Nocta gave themselves every chance running into the race stylishly finding one just a bit better than them. Molly's Folly didn't fire, while our top rater Fivecougarsthanks couldn't quite go with them when the pressure was on but finished the race off ok.

Race 5- The main flat race turned into a bit of war, with Craig Newitt's desperate riding on Rubiscent proving decisive in the end. Cornering for home Haddle Macdaddle and Hillston Exchange looked to be travelling better than the winner, but they couldn't match Rubiscent's spirit who got off the canvas to rail up and win pretty well. Haddle Macdaddle again put itself in the heat of battle but again was found for class in second, and Incentate ran on ok for third. Hillston might have had enough, while Little Baldy was average and not much to say for the rest.
Race 6- Spanish Symbol a real mixed bag racing commodity put his best hoof foward today to win the Hiskens with ease. Some are Bent was sent out a very short favourite and never seemed comfortable in his work and did well to hang onto third. It was all Spanish Symbol from about the 1000m onwards though, sweeping to the lead and never looking back. Anyone We Know ran another sneaky placing after saving alot of ground on the rail and running home steadily.
Race 7- Ista Kareem was supreme in a battle of some very good winter form horses. It must be said though he was lucky to win, given the luckless run of Baghurst second over the line. The crucial part of the race was from about the 600m-400m mark. Saliente had run them along to this point, with Ista Kareem coming into it on the outside, and Baughurst who had quickly come from last to be right on the heels of the leaders at this point. Ista Kareem was able to run into it from out wide, at the same time Baughurst continued to lose momentum while waiting on that all important run. This settled the race as these two were the best runs on the line. Saliente managed to box on for third.
Race 8- Mr Baritone a big go in the last rewarded his band of followers with a strong win keeping the punters happy. Yet another 1200m race run at high speed it was set up for a fit horse coming off the pace. And Mr Baritone whom positioned itself perfectly in the run, was produced well, wobbled when raced to the lead but hung on to win well, Good win! Something Anything showed his class by running second, while Starzando was pretty good in third considering he had to avoid the leaders who were coming back on him around the home turn.
