Moonee Valley

Race 1- Soaressa produced a very good run to run over the top of La Chasseuse who booted clear on straightening in the first. Took a little while to get there but was coming too strong for the favourite who folded up the last 50m. Good move from Craig Williams to take Whitehaven Girl to the front as it's a bit one paced and earned connections a cheque for assertiveness. Home in 34.58

Race 2- Picked the eyes out of this race. Soverign Miss the top rater got the soft run on a hot speed as predicted and was way too strong for the two good on-pacers in Speedy Rossa and Fidemus. Both who put in there best today but no match for the winner who paid handsomely 11.50 best tote, hope you cleaned up on that one. As predicted the hot speed sorted out Diamond Cove who was flushed a bit wide on the turn and did well considering it was second up I guess. Pure Harmony was the best run of the race outside of the winner. Charged to the line well from well back. Home in 35.17

Race 3- Okay Oky drifted nicely to a backable 2.80 and gave backers plenty to cheer about as it cleared away on a good speed to take the third. Fabric Of Dreams took up the running and it and Nediyms Glow ran them right along. Gave a good kick Fabric so not a bad run in the circumstances, but then the swoopers came and the smartest was Okay Oky who as predicted would appreciate a faster run race and that proved decisive. Danzylum who was specced in betting ran on strongly with Slow Talking Walter who was ok too. Antidotes put in a fair effort for fourth after missing the start, might need further. Home in 35.28

Race 4- Emjay Hussey was very impressive winning the 2yo. Ran along at a reasonable speed Emjay took a while to wind up in the straight but once she got clear she burst away... terrific win. Beating the very reliable Masked Assassin who did a good job considering it was three wide one back, kept coming under hard riding to hold out Diplomatic Force who ran a respectful third. Just as good in there own rights were Zivalee and Pont De Lima. Home in 34.65

Race 5- Mojo Pin's ride got it home here, but to be fair it was a very solid win. Up on a pretty good speed set by Isle of Majorca, Mojo Pin ran to the lead early in the straight and kept going at a good bat to win handily. Hassle ridden for luck back in the field didn't get quite enough to get close enough but was very good all the same. And top marks to Baughurst who raced wide early then had to come from very deep on the corner to get in the picture and did a terrific job considering all that to run a distinguished third. Provided all three here in the report, not much to say for the rest home in 36.48.

Race 6- My intuiton to leave the racecourse at this time was vindicated by the sillyness that transpired in the last three legs of the quaddie, starting off with 100-1 winner Marwin Gold. Extraordinary given the runs of it and Solvini the favourite who appeared to be galloping well in the straight but Marwin Gold went to it in about second gear. Fabulous run by the winner first up. Lucky Diva took a step today performing in open company for third, and Two Sons who had every chance out wide to get them but wasn't good enough. Solvini the visitor looks to have a nice action but just didn't go fast enough. Going around Going Spending the second favourite was spot on as it didn't like stretching out underneath horses. Home in 34.

Race 7- The Tasmanian visitor Rum Corps flashed up on the inside here to take the fastly run seventh. Live in Vain and Bon Henri did themselves no favours chopping each other up. Setting it up for the strong 1400m types which were the first three home. Rum Corps showed good dash to beat Itsamonty who probably put in a career run down the centre of the track. In front of Count To Zero who I went around today. Correct technically but I think he too took another step as he has been found wanting a little in hotly run 1400m races in the past, good effort by it was coming on the hot speed it just lacked a little luck at a critical time. Rockford Bay was ordinary, Pavlova should consider another career. Home in 34.88

Race 8- The lucky last won by a one-pacer drawn one in a 1700m race first up. Very brave if you backed it but well done if you did as You Sexy Boy was produced in the straight at the right time to squeeze underneath the spruik horse Raise a Call to win by an eyelash. Our Raphael, True Courser and Delvecchio ran good little races behind them but were outclassed by the first two home. Good speed in this set it up for backmarkers. Home in 35.93.
